The School Environment Fund is a vital element in ensuring that St. Faith’s CE School is a safe, well-equipped and pleasant environment for the children and staff.

St Faith’s is classed as a Voluntary Aided School and the Church of England, not the State, owns the school land and buildings. As a Voluntary Aided School, the Board of Governors are responsible for the upkeep of the school buildings and other capital work. The School Environment Fund is totally independent of the PTA funds and the School Budget, and the monies are used for different purposes.

The Department for Education provide a grant of 90% towards work which is the Board of Governor's liability, but we, the Board of Governors, are responsible for raising the remaining 10% of the cost of any capital work. Therefore if capital works cost £20,000 the Board of Governors can claim a grant of £18,000 but will have to fund the remaining £2,000. We do this mainly by asking for contributions from parents/carers. We have not increased the contribution amount for this forthcoming year.

The maintenance fund contribution for the 2025-2026 academic year is as follows:

• £45 per child per year
• Payable via bank transfer or credit card at the School Office
• Payable as a one off payment or part payment e.g. you can pay £3.75 per month.

Although we would very much encourage you to contribute the minimum amount, it is important to understand any donation you can afford will be gratefully received and please remember that any shortfall in the School Environment Fund contributions will have to be paid for from the main school budget, leaving less to spend on necessary resources for the children.
