Elm Class
Year 3 Elm Class
Welcome to Year 3 Elm class. We are at the start of the children’s KS2 journey and this is an exciting year in which they will advance their learning together and become role models for younger members of the school.
Year 3 are taught by Miss Moon and learning is supported by Miss Pip.
Please see below for some helpful reminders.
Spellings
Spellings are set on the Google Classroom every Friday and are based on the National Curriculum spelling patterns for Year 3. Children need to write a sentence using each spelling word as part of their homework. They will be tested on the following Friday in the back of their homework books. Please help your child to practise their spellings at home.
Times tables
By the end of Year 3, all children should know by heart their 2, 3, 4, 5, 8 and 10 times tables. Please practice these at home, it can be helpful to have them on display somewhere so your child sees them everyday.
P.E
In Year 3, our P.E day is Thursday. Children must bring their P.E. kit to school to change into. Here is a reminder of the St Faith’s P.E kit:
white polo shirt, green or black shorts, trainers/plimsolls, grey or black jogging trousers, grey/black sweatshirt in cold weather
Reading
We ask that children read with an adult for a minimum of fifteen minutes each evening, which should be recorded in your child’s reading log. Please sign and date each time your child reads and include any comments about your child’s reading. We would also ask that children bring their reading record to school daily.
Homework
Children will be set weekly homework, which will include a list of 10 spellings for them to learn and to write in a sentence and a Maths worksheet. This will include fluency, reasoning and problem solving activities so children can practise their week’s learning at home. The worksheet will be accompanied with a video to support the children and an answer sheet for children to use to self-assess their learning. Please ensure your child’s homework book is in school on Thursday. Each half term, a Gospel Value homework will be set and should also be shared via Google Classrooms.
If you have any quick queries, please feel free to catch me at the start or end of the school day. However, if there is anything you wish to discuss at greater length, please contact the office or let me know and we can arrange a suitable time.
Thank you for your continued support.
